SAMBA was formed in 2019 by Dean James as a holding company for investments in the music and brand experiential industries. With deep operating experience across both sectors, we live and breathe the industries we target by operating within them.

In 2025, Dean expanded the business into advisory services for other companies wanting to target the music, live event and brand experiential industries. Together with senior advisors drawn from the heart of global music, film and content, SAMBA brings a depth of operating credibility that is rare in advisory.

Across London, Sydney and Los Angeles, we work with a select roster of founders, catalogue owners and operators at moments of consequence — fundraising, sale, strategic re-direction.

More than 25 years of industry and strategic leadership across music, live entertainment, artist management and experiential branding. Has worked with Live Nation Entertainment, HMV, AEG and Mushroom Group.

Co-led two of the most successful growth businesses in the live music sector. Floated Mean Fiddler's dotcom business in 2000 (£55m sale to Live Nation, 2005). Co-founded MAMA Group, sold to HMV for £64m. Later joined Chugg Entertainment in Australia.
